Admiral George B. Rodney was a master at naval strategy, a big-time gambler, and not really shy about collecting all that war loot. He’ll always be remembered for his epic win at the Battle of the Saints in 1782, the French were gunning for the Caribbean Sugar Islands, but Rodney was ready and waiting. He outsmarted the French admiral and sailed straight through the gaps in their line to claim victory, using the famous tactic known as “breaking the line.” Today, the Admiral Rodney Rum Series honors those brave Brits who beat the French fleet and with much success, for their Rum received Gold at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London, the World Spirits Competition in Germany, and the Rum Trophy at the International Spirits Challenge. HMS Royal Oak an important ship that sailed at the very center of the English line in the Battle of Les Saintes. Commanded by Thomas Burnett, it flaunted 74 guns that successfully shelled the enemy, making her one of the star players in the battle.
