In 1865, Maurice Hennessy, the great-grandson of founder Richard Hennessy, created a star classification system to distinguish quality in cognac. Hennessy’s 3-star Cognac went on to become Hennessy V.S. (which stands for “Very Special”), the most popular cognac in the world. Only the most distinctive eaux-de-vie comprise this cognac, which then matures for several years in oak casks expertly blended to uncover a warm, full-bodied flavor. On the nose, Hennessy VS combines intense and fruity character with pleasantly oaky notes. On the palate, robust flavors of grilled almonds abound, enhanced by vibrant notes of fresh grapes.At the end of 2021, Hennessy partnered with French artist Julien Colombier, releasing 3 limited-edition bottles in celebration of the holiday spirit: a VS, VSOP, and XO. The self-taught artist contributed the design of the bottles, inspired by nature and art deco.
