Montelobos Mezcal is built upon 5 centuries of mezcal history and traditions. They craft the famous Mexican spirit using artisanal traditional methods, from a variety of different agaves that are grown organically with no pesticides or herbicides. Montelobos Pechuga Mezcal is no different. It begins its journey as their Joven Mezcal Espadin that’s crafted from ripe espadin agaves. First, the agave hearts (pias) are slowly roasted in underground stone pits for 4 to 5 days. Then they are crushed, extracting the juice, which is then left to ferment in open-air pine vats. Where the Espadin expression is double-distilled, the Pechuga gets distilled a third time with the addition of kosher turkey breast, seasonal fruits, and spices.
